Fluorescent protein tags

Introduction

Fluorescent proteins (FPs) have been used as protein tags since the mid-1990s mainly for cell biology and fluorescence microscopy. These tags have not only revolutionized cell biology by enabling the imaging of almost any protein, they are also used in biochemical applications. An important example is the immunoprecipitation and affinity purification of FP-tagged proteins, which was enabled by the development of affinity resins with high yield, purity, and affinity such as ChromoTek’s Nano-Traps (https://www.chromotek.com/products/detail/product-detail/nano-traps/).

In this blog we provide a review of

The most frequently cited anti-RFP antibody

Posted by Christoph Eckert on Mar 1, 2017 11:43:00 AM

The ChromoTek rat monoclonal anti-RFP antibody 5F8 has been cited for the use in immunofluorescence (IF) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) experiments by 91 peer reviewed articles. It is thus the anti-RFP antibody referenced most often at the database citeAB. This top rank is the result of its performance and quality. The anti-RFP antibody 5F8 recognizes common RFP variants including mCherry, mPlum, mRFP, mRFPruby.
